This part fixes the following symptoms: Leaking between the motor and the seal plate (mounting plate.) If this seal leaks for to long, water will leak down the motor shaft and into the motor, ruining the motor. If your motor is making a loud screaming noise, this has probably already happened and is advised to replace the motor. Always replace this mechanical pump seal when dismantling the pump.
Product Overview
Mechanical Shaft Seal PS1000. Used to seal the wet end of pool pumps. Seal comes in two pieces, ceramic seat with rubber back and carbon face with spring and cup. This part works with the following brands: Polaris, Pentair, Hayward, Astral, Jandy, Waterway. When installing the side of the seal with the stainless steel cup, be sure not to damage the black face of the carbon. We have found the best tool for install this part is a 1" coupling. The coupling will allow you to press the seal into the housing of the pump with out damaging the face of the seal.

These seals fit my old Dolphin Amp Master pumps perfectly. These pumps are old and seals are no longer available from the manufacture. Thank goodness I found these seals, now I can keep using these pumps for several more years.

Great product, just an item which SHOULD always be included with the volute since it must always be replaced since it WILL be damaged upon removal from your old one. What can you do? Argue with today's marketing geniuses? High quality seal that works perfectly with simple installation.
Polaris booster pump aftermarket seal kit worked perfectly and great price compared to local pool store. Seal is high quality so expect to last at least as long as Polaris original.
